CNN iReport Critique

The first ireport video that I watched was called "slippery road in danbury,ct".
I think it's really interesting because it shows how much snow was on the road and how slippery it was. I would consider this news because obviously he was going slow and just ran off the road. I would put it on the news but I would say "look at the amount of snow on the roads" rather than talk about him going off the road. Personally I wouldn't drive during a snowstorm holding my iphone videotaping it.

The second video was called "bird show".
I found it interesting but really asking myself if those are really birds, it's really hard to tell. I wouldn't put this on the news because of the fact its so hard to see if those are birds or not. If the video was clearer then I would put it on. If I wanted to make it better I would of pulled off the highway and get a closer video of it.

The third video was called "Question for ms.piggy"
This video is stupid and should be deleted. It was a waste of my time. Cleary the people that put it up had nothing better to do. This doesn't belong on the news, or anywhere on the internet. I wouldn't even try to do it better.

Audio Slideshow Project

For our project were going to do an audio slideshow of a flag football game. For our sound source were going to interview one of the players and have him talk about the game and his thoughts. Our intended audience would probably be anyone thats into sports. Its in interesting story because flag football is not a division three sport. The guys are just doing it because they love the game.

Slideshow and Photo Gallery Critique Assignment

The first slideshow that I found was http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/blogs/open-house/Pierre-Koenigs-Last-Masterpiece-For-Sale--131031068.html  where it showed pictures of an artist's last home for sale. It was only eight slides but I thought it told the story really well because the pictures were incredable and it got me staring at them.

The second slideshow that I found was http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/entertainment/celebrity/Girlfight-Celebrity-Frenemies.html?ssAuto=true which showed where Will Smith stayed during the filming of Men in Black 3. I thought it told the story really well again because the pictures were amazing.

The third slideshow that I found was http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/flatpages/video/mrsa.html which talked about a women who got an infection during surgery. I found it to be really powerful because it showed her and her kids and how happy she was and how it has affected her life.

I think that slideshows and photo galleries function well as storytelling tools although they don't tell you the whole story they still give you a little insight into it. If you want to learn about something really quick I think there a great tool.
I find that the audio slideshow conveys alot more emotion compared to the other slides because I feel it makes you listen to what shes saying and her emotions. Sounds obviously makes a huge difference because it gives you something else to focus on but goes into more detail about the story.

Podcast Reviews

For my podcasts reviews I listened to Tennis.com's podcast, The best of mike and mike in the morning and
CBS sports college basketball podcast.

With Tennis.com's podcast I didn't like at all. It was just two guys talking about tennis where there wasn't any soundbites from players or coaches. I felt like with some of their comments they were just guessing and they would throw their own personal opinions into the conversation which I strongly didn't agree with and one of guys said "ya shes a bitch". I feel like if it's supposed to be an "official" tennis podcast, they should have experts on instead of these goofballs.

I really enjoyed the best of mike and mike podcast. It was basically their whole morning show piled into a thirty minute segment which brought in numerous baseball and football experts talking about what happened last night and comming up in the week. I don't have anything bad to say about it.

My third podcast was the CBS sports march madness podcast. Now although it was from last years tournment it was still really informative. They had alot of stuff in each podcast that went really indepth without making your head spin. The best feature that I liked about the podcast was then they would talk about a game that happend last night they would throw in the radio broadcast from the school, which would give you a sence of how excited the team and the fans are to see their team win.
